The proceeds of crime are money or assets gained through criminal activities, including
money laundering. Examples of online activities involving proceeds of crime include:
- Recruiting people as money mules to move stolen money between bank accounts
- Discussions between criminals arranging money laundering
- Selling stolen personal information used to commit fraud

🚫 Examples of Prohibited Contributions (Proceeds of Crime)
- Recruiting people as money mules, including through fake job ads asking them to
move stolen money - Tricking someone into becoming a money mule without them knowing they are
committing a crime - Discussions between criminals to arrange money laundering
- Sharing or selling stolen personal information
- Using scams (like fake romances) to trick people into handing over money or bank
account details - Responding to opportunities to earn money illegally by becoming a money mule
- Promoting or selling stolen financial credentials (e.g., bank login details or ID
documents)
➡ Fraud and Financial Services
According to the Office of National Statistics, fraud is the most common crime in
England and Wales. Fraud can cause serious harm beyond financial loss, affecting
victims' mental and physical health.
4D HYPE prohibits Contributions that involve fraud or financial crimes, including
offences under the Fraud Act 2006 and Criminal Justice and Licensing Scotland) Act
2010.
We ban Contributions that:
- Contain fraud by false representation: Dishonestly making a false representation
to gain money for themselves or others, or to cause another person to lose money
(or risk losing money). - Contain fraud by abuse of position: Committing fraud by dishonestly abusing a
position of trust. - Make or supply articles for use in frauds: Creating, adapting, supplying, or
offering any article designed or intended for use in committing fraud. - Participate in fraudulent business activities: Being knowingly involved in the
running of a fraudulent sole trader business or any business intended to defraud
creditors or for another fraudulent purpose. - Carry out unauthorised financial activities: Engaging in regulated financial
activities in the UK without being authorised or exempt. - Make false claims to be authorised or exempt: Falsely claiming to be authorised
or exempt to carry on regulated financial activity or ignoring restrictions on
financial promotions. - Make false or misleading statements: Creating or spreading false or misleading
statements or impressions about investments or financial products.

of these activities.)
🚫 Examples of Prohibited Contributions (Fraud and Financial Services)
- Pretending to be from a legitimate organisation (e.g., bank, NHS, government) to
steal payments or information (phishing - Selling fake goods, counterfeit holidays, or fake insurance (known as ghost
broking) - Persuading users to invest in fake financial products, often posing as trusted
advisors or brands - Building fake friendships or relationships to scam victims into sending money or
bank details - Posting fake job ads asking for payments or stealing personal information
- Moving stolen money between accounts (money mule schemes)
- Selling stolen identities, credit card details, or "how-to" fraud guides
- Making unauthorised financial promotions
- Falsely claiming to be an authorised broker to scam victims

If you see any Contributions that break these rules, you can report them in the following
ways:
