4D HYPEʼs Policy on Encouraging or Assisting Suicide, Self-Harm, or Eating Disorders

4D HYPEʼs Policy on Encouraging or Assisting Suicide, Self-Harm, or Eating Disorders

4D HYPE does not allow any Contributions that encourage, praise, prompt, or help anyone
take part in acts that could cause serious injury, self-harm, or suicide. Even if these
Contributions are not aimed at a specific person, they are still banned.

We also do not allow Contributions that:

  • Glamorise or celebrate suicide or serious self-harm
  • Show graphic images related to serious self-harm or suicide
  • Spread false health information that could cause serious physical harm to others
who are reading it or viewing it

We also prohibit Contributions that:

  • Encourage or promote eating disorders
  • Glamorise eating disorders
  • Support harmful behaviour linked to eating disorders

(Note: We also ban any Contributions that attempt, encourage, assist, plot, or help others
break any of these rules.)

We understand that sometimes there are discussions about topics like assisted suicide in
political, legal, or educational contexts. These discussions may be allowed if they are
respectful and do not break the spirit of the rules.

🚫 Examples of Contributions That Break These Rules

Here are examples of things that are not allowed:

  • Posts that encourage, celebrate, or promote self-harm or suicide (such as
    blackmailing or egging someone on)
  • Contributions that ask for, give instructions about, or suggest ways to self-harm or
    commit suicide
  • Encouraging others to take part in dangerous “challengesˮ that involve self-harm
    or choking
  • Contributions that try to get users to agree to a “suicide pactˮ
  • Contributions requesting "meanspo" or pretending to be an online "coach" that
uses "meanspo" (being cruel or abusive to encourage harmful eating disorder
    behaviours)

If you are in the UK:

  • You can call, email, or visit the UKʼs Samaritans.
  • You will be connected to a Samaritan who will listen to and support you.
  • Their services are free, confidential, and available 24/7.

If you are in the U.S.:

  • You will be connected to a trained Crisis Counsellor who will support and guide
    you.
  • Their services are free, confidential, and available 24/7.

you are going through, you deserve help, and support is available for you.

If you are in the UK:

🗣 Other Reasons You Might Want to Talk to Someone

Not everyone who reaches out for help is thinking about hurting themselves. You might
be facing:

  • Loneliness
  • Grief
  • Relationship problems
  • Anxiety
  • Isolation
  • Bullying
  • Substance abuse
  • Feeling overwhelmed or misunderstood

Whatever you are facing, these services (the UKʼs Samaritans and the Crisis Text Line)
are ready to support you, no matter what you are facing.

Sometimes it is hard to recognise your feelings. Signs of depression can include:

  • Sadness
  • Feeling tired all the time
  • Lack of motivation
  • Changes in eating habits

If you think you might be dealing with depression or facing challenges right now, reach
out to one of the support services, a family member, or a friend. It may not seem like it,
but there are people willing to listen, and you are not alone. 🫶
