4D HYPEʼs Policy on Intimate Image Abuse and Cyberflashing

➡ Intimate Image Abuse

Intimate Image Abuse is when someone shares, or threatens to share, an intimate image
without the person's permission. These acts can cause serious harm, leading to mental
health problems like anxiety, helplessness, self-blame, depression, shame, humiliation,
and social isolation. They can also damage someoneʼs education, career, and financial
stability.

An intimate image includes:

  • Photos or videos showing a person during a sexual act
  • Photos or videos showing genitals, buttocks, or breasts (even if covered only with
    underwear)
  • AI-generated, edited, or deepfake images that look real

✅ What Does 4D HYPE Prohibit?

4D HYPE bans Contributions that:

  • Share or threaten to share private sexual photographs, intimate images, or films
    without consent
  • Share intimate images with the intent to cause humiliation, alarm, distress, or to
    obtain sexual gratification
  • Share AI-generated or faked intimate images without permission

(Note: We also prohibit Contributions that attempt, assist, encourage, plot, or organise
these activities.)

📷 How Can Intimate Image Abuse Happen?

Non-consensual sharing of intimate images can happen in different ways, including:

  • As part of domestic abuse or controlling behaviour (for example, threats to share
intimate images to control or intimidate a partner or ex-partner)
  • For financial gain, such as sextortion (blackmailing someone into performing
sexual acts or handing over money)
  • By unknown perpetrators who share images for social status, humour, sexual
    gratification, or misogyny

This also includes:

  • Images taken without consent (e.g., upskirting or downblousing)
  • Deepfake images showing someoneʼs face on sexual content
  • Hidden camera footage or hacked private images
  • Screenshots of livestreams or temporary messages

➡ Cyberflashing

Cyberflashing is when someone sends or shows a sexual image (such as a photo of
genitals) to another person without their consent.

4D HYPE prohibits Contributions that involve cyberflashing. Cyberflashing happens
when the sender:

  • Intends to cause alarm, distress, or humiliation
  • Sends the image for sexual gratification
  • Acts recklessly, not caring whether the recipient will be upset or distressed

(Note: We also prohibit Contributions that attempt, assist, encourage, plot, or organise
cyberflashing.)
